March 25, 2014

Chairman David H. Webster called the meeting to order at 6:30pm.  Trustees present included Gerald W. MacPherson, Sr., Jean Demetracopoulos, John C. Kareckas, and Russell Abell.  Town Manager Perry Ellsworth was also present.
 
Approval of Minutes
 
1. 2-25-14:  On a motion by Mrs. Demetracopoulos, seconded by Mr. Kareckas, it was unanimously voted to adopt the minutes as written.
 
New Business
 
1. The Trustees reviewed three applications for funding:
-South Berwick Recreation for $15,000, to replace snowmobile @ Powderhouse Ski Hill.
-Marshwood High Ski Team for $10,800, 27 alpine ski race suits.
-Old Berwick Historical Society for $1,764, Hike through History Museum.
 
The Board heard presentations from representatives of each applicant.
 
The Board discussed the amount available for disbursement $12,886, and how it could be divided equitably.
 
On a motion by Mr. MacPherson, seconded by Mrs. Demetracopoulos, it was unanimously voted to award a grant of $1764 to the Old Berwick Historical Society for the “Made for Trade” Museum.
 
On a motion by Mr. Abell, seconded by Mrs. Demetracopoulos, it was unanimously voted to award a grant of $4500 to the Marshwood High Ski Team for the purchase of alpine ski racing suits.  The Trustees agreed that the $4500 would be held in escrow until the Team has raised the balance of the funds.
 
On a motion by Mrs. Demetracopoulos, seconded by Mr. Abell, it was unanimously voted to award a grant of $6500 to the South Berwick Recreation Department toward the purchase of a snowmobile (with grooming capabilities) for Powderhouse Ski Hill.
 
On a motion by Mr. Abell, seconded by Mrs. Demetracopoulos, it was unanimously voted to release the $2000 granted in 2009 to the Recreation Department toward the replacement snowmobile for Powderhouse Ski Hill.
 
On a motion by Mrs. Demetracopoulos, seconded by Mr. Abell, it was unanimously voted to expend $14,764 from the Edward Jones account to cover the grant amounts awarded.
 
ADJOURNMENT
 
On a motion by Mrs. Demetracopoulos, seconded by Mr., it was unanimously voted to adjourn the meeting at 7:26pm.
